Mock OSHA audits

Mock OSHA inspections and mock OSHA audits along with review of your overall safety programs will help your company to identify gaps or oversight in your programs.  Independent safety audits frequently reveal items that the company would never have noticed until an actual OSHA inspection occurred or an employee was either seriously or fatally injured.

Independent mock OSHA inspection or audits of your safety programs, training, and effectiveness is extremely helpful to identify weak areas of a safety program, safety training, safety documentation, and other issues.  If you have problems in your safety programs, you may well have issues in product quality and overall plant efficiency.

Underlying issues that can be identified during a mock OSHA safety inspection / audit normally affect many other areas of an operation.  Many times, contributing factors to a safety program that has weak spots is an indication of problems that may not be related to safety.

However, it is through the safety audit that these underlying currents are commonly identified, allowing the company to correct the problem before other areas of an operation become affected.

One of our consultants is a former Vice-president of Operations for a chemical company with two United States plants.  This background allows the big picture evaluation of a company to identify problem areas involving computers, software, IT, quality, efficiency, moral, customer service, transportation, order entry, accounting, production, research and development, while appearing to only be auditing or implementing a safety program.

If you want to find out what is truly going on that employees may not want executives to know about, try an in-depth safety audit or safety implementation program.  We will help you to learn all aspects of your operation without any employees realizing that a company overview is being conducted.

The bottom line:

You, the executive, may be held accountable for things that you are not currently aware of, such as:

OSHA compliance,

environmental compliance,

DOT transportation compliance,

quality control,

wasted production time,

drug or alcohol issues,

software issues,

computer issues,

stealing,

wasted overtime,

lack of planning,

pains of growing to rapidly,

root issues relating to customer service,

not being profitable,

and many more items.

We are quite amazed at what a safety audit will reveal.  Give us a call so that you can protect your executives, your assets, your profits, your employees, and your company's continued success.

Custom safety audits of the following items can be arranged on your site:

  • Forklift training / certification programs.  New Federal forklift laws went into effect in 1999.  Are you in compliance today?  The law requires re-evaluation of the operator every three years.  If you were in business in 1999, you will be conducting your third forklift operator evaluation in 2005.

  • Confined space vs. permit required confined space.  Do you know the difference?

  • Hazard communication programs - Federal law for all companies.
  • Lockout / tagout (LOTO) - Federal law for all companies.

  • Fire prevention plans - Federal law for all companies.

  • Emergency action plans - Federal law for all companies.

  • Develop an OSHA protocol outlining what procedures your company would follow in the event of an OSHA inspection.

  • Blood borne Pathogen Program.  Yes, this does affect every company!

  • Job Hazard Analysis - Federal law for all companies.
  • Mock OSHA inspections and mock OSHA audits.

  • Preparing for the media

  • Evaluate your safety persons actual ability to protect your company.

  • Fine tune your safety person to perform effectively.

  • Random safety audits conducted at your facilities.

  • Second shift, third shift and weekend shift evaluations.
  • Workplace Violence
  • Natural Disaster Planning Resources
  • Conduct OSHA training for supervisors and management.
  • and many other reasons to have an on-site audit.

Information about the OSHA Outreach training - 10 hour or 30 hour OSHA courses.

OSHA 10-hour class - (This is not hazwoper training.)

The OSHA 10-hour class was designed by OSHA for workers.  OSHA considers the OSHA 10- hour class to be a beginners course.  OSHA mandates to our trainers a required list of topics to be taught.  After completion of this course, OSHA will issue the student an OSHA 10-hour card.  The current OSHA 10-hour cards have serial numbers, but do not have an expiration date.

OSHA 30-hour class - (This is not hazwoper training.)

The OSHA 30-hour class was designed by OSHA for human resources, supervisors, management, owners, executives, as well as workers.  Again, OSHA mandates to our trainers a required list of topics to be taught.  A few hours of class time can be allocated for items of particular interest to the students provided there is a common goal.  After completion of this course, OSHA will issue the student an OSHA 30-hour card.  The OSHA 30-hour card does not currently have an expiration date.

The OSHA authorization

There are very few items that OSHA actually authorizes; however, the outreach instructor authorization for training students for the 10-hour card and the 30-hour card are two of the few authorizations.  Our instructors must keep strict records of all training materials used and training dates.  This is to assure that our instructors deliver quality material and information to the public.

8-hour hazwoper annual training

The 8-hour hazwoper annual refresher course is in no way related to the OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour courses.  OSHA does not give authorization to specific trainers of hazwoper courses.

Beware of other safety courses

If you are offered 24-Hour or XX-Hour OSHA courses that do not match the 10-hour or 30-hour courses mentioned above; you will not be receiving a card issued by OSHA.  You will be receiving a card from the trainer.  Some of the unscrupulous trainers that were not able to achieve OSHA authorization, represent themselves as OSHA trainers, when in fact, they are not authorized by OSHA.  I have seen some of these cards that are plastic and the OSHA Federal logo was placed on the card, these cards are not issued by OSHA.

What does OSHA or O.S.H.A. stand for?  OSHA is short for Occupational Safety and Health Administration.  This is the branch of the Department of Labor (DOL) that regulates workplace safety and health.  Safety and health are actually two separate topics.
